How far is a 5k and a 10k?
A 5k is 3.1 miles, while a 10k is 6.2 miles.
Is this race walker-friendly?
Yes! We dig walkers, especially in the 5k. If you are entered in the 10k, however, please make sure you can walk at least a 15-minutes-per-mile or faster pace.
Are kids allowed to run or walk this race?
Absolutely! We encourage your child to race with you if they are able. Please register them as well, as there will be prizes for all age groups. If your child is not capable of completing a 5k or 10k, there is a ½-mile fun run for children ages 3-10 following the adult races.
Can I run with my dog?
Yes, as long as they are leashed and in compliance with all City of Salem laws.
Are strollers allowed?
Yes – we love running parents and their kids! However, please choose a RUNNING stroller and start at the back of the pack so as not to trip up other racers. Keep in mind parts of the route are not paved.
Will there be any race photography?
Yes. Race photography will be provided by Oregon Pixels. Race day photographs will be available on June 19th at www.oregonpixels.com.
I've never raced before. Can you point me toward a training program?
There are a plethora of online training programs out there for everybody from beginners to advanced exercisers. Try Runner's World free training plans delivered straight to your inbox, or go here for a beginner’s 10k schedule.
Where do I pick up my race packet?
You can pick up your race packet the morning of the race directly at Minto-Brown anywhere from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Keep in mind, the earlier you pick up your packet (which includes your timing chip and bib), the more likely you are to beat the last-minute rush…and get the best parking spot.
Can I just donate without running or walking the race?
Certainly! Go here to donate any amount quickly and securely.
Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately no, we do not offer refunds.
Can I wear headphones?
Absolutely.
